What do you know about gum disease? Do you know what you can do to prevent the problem, or what could cause your gum disease? Similarly, have you heard that there are actually three stages of gum disease? Finally, do you know which of these stages can be reversed, or what you can do to reverse gum disease in each of its stages?

Fortunately, if you do have gum disease, there are a few things you can still do. For example, depending on the severity of your case, our dentist could simply recommend better at-home cleanings. Similarly, we may recommend using taking medications, if your case is severe enough.

However, another option you may need to consider is gingival surgery, which is sometimes known as gum grafting. Though this treatment is rare, it can be useful if you infections and bacteria have damaged your gums.

During gingival surgery, a periodontist will essentially replace unhealthy gums with healthier gums. Please note that you will probably need pain medication after this treatment. Similarly, you’ll need to keep your mouth as clean as possible if this is the option you choose.

Fortunately, if you have gum disease, you probably won’t need gum grafts. In fact, our team will usually be able to provide you with a more common solution.
